WHEREAS, a bill is being considered in the House of Representatives
relating to the jurisdiction of the Public Utility Commission over electric
rates, operations, and services, and
WHEREAS, the bill would provide that the Commission would have exclusive
original jurisdiction over all rates, operations, and services of electric
utilities for the purpose of regulating those rates, operations, and
services except rates, operations, and services of municipally owned electric
utility systems, and
WHEREAS, this bill would prevent the local governmental bodies the
right to regulate and control the electric rates in their cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS, in regular meeting duly assembled, that the Euless City Council does,
by this Resolution, place on record its opposition of House Bill No. 585
and by this Resolution does instruct the City Secretary to forward a copy
hereof to members of the House of Representatives.
