'WHEREAS, Lone Star Gas Company, the holder of a utility
franchise previously issued by the City of Euless, Texas, for
the providing of gas utility service to the citizens of such
City, has requested a rate increase in the supply of natural
gas to such citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas,
desires to call a public hearing for the purpose of allowing
both proponents and any opponents of such rate increase the oppor-
tunity to express their views on same; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, does
additionally desire to obtain consultants and counsel for the pur-
pose of evaluating such rate increase; and,
WHEREAS, the Euless City Council does desire additional time
for the purpose of evaluating the presentment of proponents and
opponents to such rate increase and the findings of such consult-
ants and counsel.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the
City of Euless, Texas, in regular session duly convened, that:
I.
A public hearing is wherewith called for the llth day of
September, 1979, during the regularly scheduled council meeting of
the Euless City Council for such date for the purpose of receiving
public input and comments from proponents and opponents of the
proposed rate increase of Lone Star Gas Company filed with the
City on the 26th day of July, 1979.
II.
The City Manager of the City of Euless, Texas, is authorized
to employ the consulting firm of Touche -Ross & Company for the
purpose of evaluating such rate increase and making it's findings
and recommendations to the City Council of the City of Euless,
Texas, and such other consultants and counsel as the City Manager
may deem necessary to employ for the proper evaluation of such
rate increase.
(-. So that governing body of the City of Euless, Texas, to -wit,
it's City Council, might more properly review and consider the
rate increase, the testimony and comments of proponents and oppo-
nents thereto and the findings and recommendations of it's con-
sultants and counsel, the operation of such increased schedule of
rates requested by Lone Star Gas Company shall be, and the same
is, hereby suspended for a period of One Hundred and Twenty (120)
days beyond the date on which such schedule of rates would other-
wise go into effect unless such suspension shall be sooner ter -
minated by apropriate action of the Euless City Council.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Euless, Texas, at a regularly
scheduled meeting on this the lltir day of August, 1979, by a
vote of 3 ayes, 0 nays and 0 abstentions.
