Parks and Leisure Services Board
June 05, 2023
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:02 PM. On
Monday, June, 05, 2023, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Isha Sharma, Jason Reyes and Roger Sickler.
Members absent: Magen Brown and Steve Doty.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Duane Strawn, Park
Superintendent Ryan Turner, Recreation Assistant Shelli Walsh and Administrative Secretary Jodie
Dunn.
Visitors present: None Present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the May 01,
2023 regular meeting. Isha Sharma noticed a mistake in the May 01, 2023 minutes. The minutes
will be corrected and a motion to approve will be made at the next Park Board meeting held on
August 07, 2023.

a. Magen Brown — Preserve & McCormick: Not present.
b. Steve Doty — West Park & Wilshire: Not preset.
c. John Raab — VOBC & Reflection: No items to report.
d. Roger Sickler — Bob Eden & Trailwood: No items to report.
e. Jason Reyes — Midway & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
f. Kay Seger — J.A. Carr & Kiddy Carr: No longer on the board. Chairman Jones will be
taking over these parks.
g. Isha Sharma — Heritage & S. Euless: No items to report.
h. Chairman Jones — Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.

Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for May 1st — 315t 2023:
a. Total man hours for Mav 151- 3111= 536
• 274 Horticulture
• 210 Forestry
• 18 Greenhouse
• 34 Special Projects
• 0 Training
➢ Mulched and planted beds at J.A. Carr Park and EFLAP
➢ Planted Main St. medians and end caps
➢ Trimmed shrubs at J.A. Carr Park, Ector, Westpark Way, Fuller House,
Rec/Senior Center
➢ Trail work at J.A. Carr Park, VOBC, and tree grove
➢ Repaired picnic pad at J.A. Carr Park
➢ Installed drain and ramp at McCormick playground
➢ Removed dead pine tree from City Hall
➢ Repaired valve at J.A. Carr, irrigation repair at VOBC, and water fountain
repair at dog park
➢ Repaired bollard at The Preserve
➢ Supplemental mowing
Parks and Communitv Services Reports
a. Parks Report — Rvan Turner
• Installed a ramp and a drain at McCormick Park.
• J.A. Carr Park had a broken slab. Parks fixed the slab.
• There are a lot of new blooming wildflowers at VOBC.
• The water fountain at the dog park is being fixed.
• There are been a few mowing issues. The City has parted way with GI -Mow and
has re -hired Smith Lawn and Tree.
b. Community Services Report — Duane Strawn
• Our Concert Series has started and A Tribute to Creed was at Texas Star Golf Course
on June 2, 2023 at 7:00 PM. This was a free concert and there were about 75 people in
attendance.
• The new Lifeguard breakroom will be dropped on June 22, 2023 by the concession
stand at the Euless Family Life Aquatic Park. The new break room will be air
conditioned.
• The Senior Center hosted a Senior Prom on May 18, 2023 which was very well
attended.

• The Senior Center also hosted a Mother's Day Tea Party on May 12, 2023 for the
2"d year in a row. This event was loved by all and turned out to be a big hit.
• This year we are asking for a budget to Update the Parks Master Plan. With this
the Park Board, City Manager's Office, City Council and staff will be heavily
involved. As long as this budget request is funded we would like to kick this off on
October 1, 2023.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:38 PM.
