HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-06-14FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD June 14,2023 ITEM 1 - CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public works and Engineering Major Jones at 11:36 A.M' at the city of Euless public Works Building, 1513 Weltpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040 The following members were in attendance: Director of Public works and Engineering Major Jones Dr. Susan Read CitY Council Member Eddie Price Staff Members Present: DePutY CitY Manager Chris Barker Animal Control Supervisor Larry Atkinson Assistant Director Public Works Joe Villa ACO Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour Barbara Brown - Mid Cities Community Cats PattY Lemoine - Shelter Cats ITEM 2 - REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER 7' 2022 Director Jones asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of March 15,2}23.With no questions ot Corm"nts, the minutes were accepted as written' ITEM 3 . UPDATE ON GAP ACO Supervisor Atkinson reported that GAP held two adoption e-vents and were able to meet their $20,00d'goar at ine walk-A-Thon on 412212023. GAP was also invited to a Flight Safety rveni,in"r" they raised $500. They have also purchased small swimming poots to be used at the dog park at the shelter' ITEM 4 - QUARTERLY REPORT ACo Supervisor Atkinson reported that there was in increase in the number of animals picked up and asked if there were any questions pertaining to the quarterly report' cgu.1ci! member price asked if this could o6 due to Covid. ACo Supervisor Atkinson said that ,"ny of animals are turned in due to owners returning_to work. Council member Price inquired to the .rpr.ity at the shelter for these animal. ACO Supervisor Atkinson reported Page I of 2 that the shelter has the capacity for 16 dogs' Director Jones inquired about how many weeks the sherter is fuil and ACO SupervisolAtkinson estimated approximately 20 weeks' ITEM 5 - SHELTER / FACILITY UPDATE Aco supervisor Atkinson that the new fuil-time sherter attendant started on June 6th and if,ri".tw gates trave Ueen added to the dog park at the shelter' ITEM 6 - QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Jones asked if there were any questions or comments. Ms. Lemoine with shelter Cats stated that they are in need ottosteis. Ms. Barbara Brown with Mid Cities Community cats reported on the work the organization has done with feral cats. She stated that in 2oz2,there *",".." tot.t ot 167 feral cats that were spayed/neutered in Euless and returned and that in the first 4 ,onin. ol 2023, they have been able to take care of 95 cats.
