WHEREAS, we are concerned about the use of illegal drugs such
as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin, and
WHEREAS, we recognize the commercial and social pressures that
encourage such harmful behavior, and
WHEREAS, we are cognizant of the deleterious social, phychological,
and physiological consequences of illegal drugs and drug abuse, and
WHEREAS, we are aware of the increasing body of research delineating
the injurious effects of drug abuse and the use of illegal drugs.
NOW, THEREFORE, we declare the use of illegal drugs and drug abuse
to be a serious social and medical problem, and
We strongly endorse the community education efforts of the Hurst -
Euless- Bedford Parent Teacher Association's War on Drugs Committee.
ADOPTED this 12th day of January, 1982, by the Euless City Council.
