HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-523 03-09-1982RESOLUTION NO. 82 -523 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Texas Bingo Enabling Act, it is necessary to call an election when the required number of valid signatures are presented by legal petition requesting a Bingo Proposition to the governing body of a political subdivision; and WHEREAS, on the 16th day of February, 1982, a forty -page petition bearing five hundred thirty -seven (537) signatures was presented to the City Secretary's Office for verification; and WHEREAS, the City Secretary's Office did determine and certify accordingly that there are five hundred ten (510) valid signatures on said petition; and WHEREAS, the Tarrant County Clerk's Office has determined that the required number of valid signatures necessary to call an election for a Bingo Proposition is four hundred thirty -seven (437); and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: 1. That the Euless City Council at regular session on this date, and in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Bingo Enabling Act, does hereby order the Bingo Proposition to be added to the official ballot for the April 3, 1982 Municipal Election for the City of Euless. 2. That the effective date of such legalized bingo proposition, if approved, shall be in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas as defined in the Texas Bingo Act. 3. That the action of this Resolution shall in no way alter the previous election order of Resolution No. 82 -516, thereby establishing the polling place, the election judges, the date and time of the election, and other pertinent procedures as required by the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Euless. 4. That the proposition for the Bingo Enabling Act shall be printed in both English and Spanish with the following wording: Legalizing bingo games for charitable purposes as authorized by the Bingo Enabling Act in the City of Euless," with the citizens of Euless having the opportunity to cast a vote for or against said proposition.
