WHEREAS, the Euless City Council prohibits signs from being located
within or project over any public right -of -way; and
WHEREAS, the Euless home and apartment builders have expressed a
need to advertise real estate sales during the weekend by placing signs in the public
right -of -way; and
WHEREAS, there is a public benefit to having developers develop and
sell real estate in the city; and
WHEREAS, the City is currently reviewing its resolutions that prohibit
signs in the public right -of -way and desires to evaluate placing signs in the public right -
of -way during the legislative process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Euless, Texas, that:
SECTION 1
That all City of Euless monetary penalties for placing signs in the
parkway of any City right -of -way (hereinafter "parkway sign ") shall be waived by reason
of the erection and maintenance of parkway signs between the hours only of 12:00 Noon
on Friday to 12:00 Noon on the following Monday when the parkway signs are erected
and maintained in accordance with this resolution.
SECTION 2
That no parkway sign may be placed in the roadways or on the median
of any right -of -way.

That the size of each parkway sign shall not exceed three square feet

That only one parkway sign for each person or company is permitted
within each sign block face except additional parkway signs may be placed in the
parkway of a public right -of -way if the signs are at least 500 feet from another parkway
sign displaying the same or related inforamtion. . A parkway sign must be located at
least two feet from the back of the curb or the edge of the pavement if there is no
curb. A parkway sign must be at least twenty feet from the intersection as measured
from the points of tangency as shown on the sketch that is attached as Exhibit "A ".
SECTION 6
That a parkway sign must be made of metal, plastic, or wood. A
parkway sign made of cardboard is prohibited.
SECTION 7
That the person or company referenced on the parkway sign shall be
responsible for the sign and shall assume full liability for any damages or injuries which
may be caused by the placement of such signs in the parkway of any public right -of-
way.
SECTION 8
That all requirements of the sign regulations of the Euless Zoning
Ordinance shall be applicable to parkway signs except as specifically provided in this
resolution.
SECTION 9
That within six months from the passage of this resolution, the City
Planning and Zoning Commission shall evaluate the effects of allowing parkway signs,
and shall recommend to the City Council whether any amendments to the sign
regulations of the Euless Zoning Ordinance should be made.
SECTION 10
That the Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage and publication in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of
Euless, and be in effect until July 11, 1983, and it is accordingly so resolved.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 11th
day of January, 1983.
