A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF EULESS TO
SEEK FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE' TEXAS CRIM-
INAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
A DRUG ABUSE UNIT FOR THE EULESS POLICE DEPART -
MENT.
WHEREAS, the current equipment and personnel are presently in-
adequate in identifying drug users and drug dealers, and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless does not have sufficient financial
resources to provide its law enforcement agency with this equipment
and personnel, and
WHEREAS, this additional equipment and personnel will allow
the City of Euless law enforcement agency to increase its capabilities
in the basic function of law enforcement, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that the best
interest of the City of Euless will be served by participating in
this program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS:
1. The City of Euless desires to participate in this Drug Abuse
Unit program of the Euless Police Department.
2. This City understands that the Texas Criminal Justice Divi-
sion is providing 100 percent funding except on equipment and
some personnel. The City of Euless will provide 50% funding
on equipment and 40% funding for one police officer and 50%
funding for the Project Coordinator.
3. This City further understands that this program is to continue
for a period of one (1) year and that the Texas Criminal Jus-
tice Division will provide funding. At the end of this period,
all funding will be assumed by the City of Euless.
ADOPTED AND APPROVIED this 22nd day of February , 1983
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas.
