WHEREAS, the State of Texas will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 1986, and
the Governor's Office of the State of Texas has designated a Texas Sesqui-
centennial of 1986 Celebration; and
WHEREAS, this Sesquicentennial will promote travel, historical preservation,
books, and other monuments and markers throughout the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless, Tarrant County, Texas, wishes also to participate
in this celebration by selecting a "Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee" for
the City to represent the community with the following activities:
1) to encourage organization development and assist in planning
activities for interested parties;
2) to gather and disseminate information to the general public
about Sesquicentennial activities conducted in the City;
3) to develop standards for Sesquicentennial activities;
4) to invite local participation in the Texas Sesquicentennial;
5) to incorporate in its activities and publications the use of the
logal of the Texas Sesquicentennial; and
6) to represent the whole community, coordinate the varied
activities of participants, and to advise the participants in their endeavors;
WHEREAS, the City of Euless wishes the Committee to be a broad - based,
diversified, and active Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Euless,
Tarrant County, Texas, that:
The City of Euless hereby establishes a Texas Sesquicentennial Coordinating
Committee to serve the citizens of the City of Euless in the celebration of the
1986 Texas Sesquicentennial.
The City Council of the City of Euless recognizes said Committee and its Co-
Chairpersons, Betty Yarbrough and Julia Wakeley, and encourages them to
organize and establish an active committee in this regard, and to report to the
City Council with their Master Plan and activities for this project.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless on this
13th day of November, 1984.
