WHEREAS, the City of Euless is experiencing a significant percentage of out -of-
city library users; and
WHEREAS, informal reciprocal borrowing between area libraries has ended with
the withdrawal of county funding and the instigation of fees; and
WHEREAS, to continue to provide adequate library services to Euless residents,
several areas of the current collection will need to be expanded, as referrals
to libraries charging fees should not substitute for local service; and
WHEREAS, on June 6, 1985, the Euless Library Board of Trustees recommended to
the Euless City Council user fees for non - Euless residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS,
THAT residents of Bedford and Hurst will be exempt from user fees for the first
year; and
THAT fees shall consist of 25 cents per item, except for videotapes and art
prints which shall be $3.00 per item; and
THAT coupon books in denominations of $5 to $25 be available to non - Euless
citizens as a method of simplifying bookkeeping time for the librarians; and
THAT employees of the City of Euless shall be exempt, regardless of their place
of residence.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 25th day of June,
1985, by a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
