WHEREAS, the City of Euless lies within the Hurst- Euless-
Bedford Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, the principally used current athletic field of the
Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District, Pennington
Field, currently is located within the City of Euless; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless and its citizenry in a recent
bond election of the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School
District reflected their support for the construction of a
new principal athletic facility to replace Pennington Field;
and
WHEREAS, Pennington Field was named after Coach Fred Penning-
ton, a former coach at Bell High School in the Hurst- Euless-
Bedford Independent School District and a former resident of
the City of Euless, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Euless and its City Council would
encourage the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School
District to name its new principal athletic facility after
such distinguished coach and educator,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EULESS, that it is recommended to the Hurst- Euless-
Bedford Independent School District Board of Trustees that
the name "Pennington Field" be continued as the name for the
new athletic field and complex to be built by such District
so that the memory of this outstanding educator and coach
might be kept active and alive as an example for his fellow
educators and future students.
Adopted at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on
the llth day of March, 1986, by a vote of 5 ayes, 0
nays, and 0 abstentions.
