HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-697 02-14-1989RESOLUTION NO. 89 -697 WHEREAS, a Notice of Intent has been issued by the Federal Aviation Administration advising that an Environmental Impact Statement will be prepared and considered for proposed facility improvements at Dallas /Fort Worth International Airport; and, WHEREAS, the Notice of Intent limits the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement to a proposed 8500 -foot runway ultimately identified as Runway 16 -34 East; and, WHEREAS, it is public knowledge that the Dallas /Fort Worth International Airport, through its Board of Directors and through its respective ownerships, i.e., the Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, have expressed their intent to totally alter and amend the Master Plan of Dallas /Fort Worth Airport by the building of an additional runway on the west side of the Airport, additional terminals, additional parking facilities, additional ramps and varied other changes and improvements so as to enable Dallas /Fort Worth Airport to handle up to 1.2 million air traffic movements as opposed to the current number of 675,000; and, WHEREAS, the cumulative effects of all proposed ._.. changes are so dramatic and of such potential negative impact upon all areas surrounding Dallas /Fort Worth Airport, that the proposed Environmental Impact Statement process is flawed and inadequate and must be broadened. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS that it forward to the Federal Aviation Administration and all other interested parties, locally, within the State of Texas, and nationally, this city's position that the scope of the proposed Environmental Impact process be broadened to include all proposed and anticipated changes at Dallas /Fort Worth Airport as contemplated by the new Airport Master Plan.
