WHEREAS, Article V. C. S. 6701m -2 provides for an exception
to the identification of city and county owned vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the law provides that the identification provision
does not apply to automobiles used by the Police, Sheriff's
and Constable's Departments, District Attorney or Juvenile
Probation Departments when the vehicles are used for
performing official duties and when the unmarking is made at
the discretion of the City Council or commissioner's court
order, whichever is applicable; and
WHEREAS, John Lynn Shackelford, Director of Administrative
Services, is hereby authorized to sign the required forms to
obtain this type of registration; and
WHEREAS, the vehicles used by Euless Police Department are
exempt under V. C. S. 6701m -2 when used in the performance
of official duties; and
WHEREAS, the governing body requests the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation to issue regular plates
upon proper application;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Euless, Texas, that the City of Euless operate
certain vehicles with regular license plates.
