RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EULESS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN HURST, EULESS,
BEDFORD, GRAPEVINE, AND NORTH RICHLAND HILLS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMBINED POLICE OFFICER
EMPLOYMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the police departments of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Grapevine, and
North Richland Hills each have recruiting, testing and hiring practices that are very
similar; and
WHEREAS, many applicants for police officer positions apply with each of the
cities mentioned above; and
WHEREAS, certain applicants for the position of police officer are not
qualified, or acceptable candidates for police officers and officials of each city incur
substantial expense separately in such determination; and
WHEREAS, a combined effort by the said five cities would eliminate
duplication, be cost and time effective, and provide a greater pool of qualified
applicants for police department positions; and
WHEREAS, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated article 4413 (32c)
authorizes local governments to enter into contracts with other local governments to
perform governmental functions and services pursuant to intergovernmental
contracts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT
The City of Euless shall execute and enter into the attached interlocal
cooperation agreement with the cities of Hurst, Bedford, Grapevine and North
Richland Hills for the purpose of a combined effort for the hiring, testing and
evaluation of potential police personnel.
