HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-09-13FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD September 13, 2023 ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones at 2:36 P.M. at the City of Euless Public Works Building, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040 The following members were in attendance: Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones City Council Member Eddie Price Hurst Animal Services Supervisor Chris Chenevert Staff Members Present: Assistant Director Public Works Joe Villa ACO Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour ITEM 2 — REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER 7, 2022 Director Jones asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of June 14, 2023. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written. ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON GAP ACO Shelton reported that GAP held an adoption event at which one dog was adopted. Clear The Shelter held August 21st-26th in which 9 cats and 12 dogs were adopted. Gap will be holding a "Bark in the Park" event on October 15th. On October 14th from 10 a.m. — 12 p.m., TCAP will be holding a free rabies shot clinic. Council Member Price asked for clarification on what "calls for service" and "wildlife" involves. ACO Shelton reported that calls for service would involve calls of loose dogs so they would increase their patrols in that area and wildlife could include anything from opossums, raccoons, foxes, or squirrels. Director Jones asked why there may have been an increase in "animals at large" calls. ACO Shelton stated that they believe it is because summer is over and the kids are back in school. Council Member Price inquired about the procedure in handling a noise violation. ACO Shelton indicated that a log is given to the complainant to record the violations and that log is presented to the court, who decides if a citation is to issued. Page 1 of 2 ITEM 5 — SHELTER / FACILITY UPDATE ACO Shelton reported that the full-time shelter attendant, Carrie started on June 6. Director Jones reported that City Council has approved an additional ACO, effective October 1 along with a new Animal Services truck. ITEM 6 — QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Jones asked if there were any questions or comments - none were indicated. . ITEM 7 — ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 2:59 P.M.
