WHEREAS, the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Economic Development Foundation was
established in 1988 to develop a cooperative Economic Development
program for the H -E -B area; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Economic Development
Foundation is to develop and implement a program of business
marketing, recruitment and retention by organizing and motivating the
public and private sectors of the communities of Hurst, Euless, and
Bedford to cooperatively and aggressively participate in the expansion
of economic activity by creating additional jobs and increased
investment in the Hurst - Euless- Bedford area; and
WAS, in 1989, an innovative approach was taken to enhance economic
development efforts in which Strategic Planning Action Committees
composed of over 150 civic and business leaders from the cities of
Hurst, Euless and Bedford, the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School
District and the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Chamber of Commerce was
appointed to develop specific action plans relating to key economic
development strategies; and
WHEREAS, these representatives of both the public and private sectors
volunteered their time and expertise to develop strategic action plans
in such areas as Business Retention, Marketing, Home Occupation
Transition, Data and Demographics, Site Inventory and Analysis,
Investment Financing, Foundation Organization and Program Funding; and
WHEREAS, the worthwhile efforts of the Strategic Planning Committee
have produced a plan which when implemented will be a positive step
toward a coordinated and comprehensive Economic Development Program
for the Hurst - Euless- Bedford area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Euless, that we hereby approve the H -E -B Economic Development
Strategic Plan and support its implementation on a timely basis; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we call upon all our citizens to join us
in endorsing this community -wide Economic Development effort which we
feel will contribute to the quality of life in our community.
