WHEREAS, the cities of Hurst and Euless have identified State Highway
10 as a prime development area, and the roadway reconstruction of
State Highway 10 is currently underway within the City of Euless; and
WHEREAS, plans for the reconstruction and improvement of a major
portion of State Highway 10 within the City of Hurst have been
approved and funded for letting in 1992, but a major portion of the
State Highway 10 roadway is not included for reconstruction and
improvement including the area between Westpark Way in Euless and Bell
Spur in Hurst; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation is
in the process of completing right -of -way acquisition for extensive
improvements to the Loop 820 and Airport Freeway interchange, causing
interruptions in traffic flow for over 145,000 vehicles per day during
the construction period; and
WHEREAS, State Highway 10 can serve as an important relief valve for
traffic during the renovation of the Loop 820 and Airport Freeway
interchange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
The Euless City Council urges the State Department of Highways and
Public Transportation to include funding for the entire length of
State Highway 10 within the cities of Hurst, Euless and Fort Worth;
and
SECTION 2
That the reconstruction and improvements of State Highway 10 between
Westpark Way and Bell Spur be included in the reconstruction project
between Loop 820 and Bell Spur within the City of Hurst; and
SECTION 3
That the total reconstruction of the entire length of State Highway 10
be completed well in advance of any reconstruction of the Loop 820 and
Airport Freeway interchange.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 26th
day of March, 1991, by a vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, and 0
abstentions.
