HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-774 11-12-1991RESOLUTION NO. 91-774 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A MEMORIAL TO THE HONOR OF W. M. SUSTAIRE, FORMER CHIEF OF POLICE AND CITY MANAGER OF EULESS TEXAS. WHEREAS, W. M. "Blackie" Sustaire contributed significantly to the various functions of city government during his more than thirty -one years of municipal experience; and SAS, W. M. " Blackie" Sustaire was the first Chief of Police of the City of Euless, and served in that capacity from August 12, 1957, to January 14, 1975, at which time he was appointed by the Euless City Council as the fourth City Manager of Euless, Texas, a position which he held until his retirement on January 31, 1989; and FMS, in November 1990, at the time of his death, the City of Euless lost a good friend; and WHEREAS, during his tenure of service as Chief of Police, he demonstrated his capability of leadin a growing and developing police deparbi nt; and WHEREAS, during his tenure of service as City Manager, he demonstrated that the governing body made no mistake in placing him in that important position, wherein he proved to be a capable, honest, courteous, and trustworthy public servant; and WHEREAS, Blackie Sustaire maintained the best interest of the City in his dealings with community leaders and all citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, and its Citizens wish to recognize and honor Blackie Sustaire in a memorial to perpetuate his service to the City. NEW, Itirxr ru, BE IT RESOLWED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUIESS, TEXAS, that public notice and official recognition be taken of Blackie Sustaire's long and faithful service to the citizens of this City and sincere appreciation be expressed for his dedicated performance of the duties of his office; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Euless Police Building be dedicated as "W. M. ' Blackie' Sustaire Law Enforcement Center" and that an appropriate plaque and site be prepared to honor him; and that this site be dedicated in the Spring of 1992.
