A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A DATE FOR A RUNOFF ELECTION
FOLLOWING A REGULAR ELECTION FOR THE OFFICES OF CITY
COUNCIL MEMBERS, PLACE ONE, PLACE THREE, PLACE FIVE
AND PLACE SIX FOR THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City of Euless, Texas, is a home rule city
chartered under the laws and constitution of the State of Texas;
and
WHEREAS, the charter of the City of Euless, Texas, provides
for the election of its Mayor and members of its City Council by
a majority of votes cast in an annual election called for such
purpose; and
WHEREAS, the regular annual election of officers of the City
of Euless, Texas, is held on the first Saturday in May of each
year; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Texas Election Code requires the
City of Euless, Texas, by appropriate action of its City Council,
to establish a date not earlier than the 20th day or later than
the 30th day after the date the final canvass of the main
election is completed as the date for a runoff election
necessitated for the election of members of its City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of
Euless, Texas, by adoption of this resolution to establish and
designate Saturday, May 30, 1992, as the date for any runoff
election required for the election of members of said City

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

The City Attorney of the City of Euless, Texas, as its chief
legal officer is further authorized and directed to submit to the
Attorney General of the United States for appropriate review and
approval under the provisions of Section 5 of the United States
Voting Rights Act the run off election date herein designated.
