WHEREAS, the City of Euless regards the presence of trees as one of its
many assets and values them for their aesthetic quality and their enhancement
of the environment; and
DHEYEAS, the addition of more trees, and especially those in urban areas
will help to improve the quality of life for those residents and visitors who
enjoy them; and
VHENEAS, the Texas Forest Service has taken a leading role in the
planting, maintenance and preservation of trees in urban areas in recent
times, making the management of urban forests a primary goal; and
DHENEAS, the United States Forest Service in coordination with the Texas
Forest Service has made urban tree planting grant funds available through the
establishment of the Small Business Administration National Tree Planting
Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless is definitely benefiting from this newly
established program and will abide by the regulations of the urban tree
enhancement program.
SECTION 1: That City Manager, Tom Hart, is hereby authorized to execute
an application to the Texas Forest Service for a Small
Business Administration Tree Planting Grant, a copy of said
application being attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and
incorporated herein for all purposes.
SECTION 2: That the Small Business Administration is hereby assured that
the local cost share, as more specifically set out in Exhibit
"A" hereto, will be provided by the City of Euless.
ADOPTED this 8th day of December, 1992, at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Euless, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and
0 abstentions.
