A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A DATE FOR A RUNOFF ELECTION,
IF REQUIRED, FOLLOWING A REGULAR ELECTION FOR THE
OFFICES OF MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS, PLACE TWO AND
PLACE FOUR FOR THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City of Euless, Texas, is a home rule city chartered under the
laws and constitution of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the charter of the City of Euless, Texas, provides for the
election of its Mayor and members of its City Council by a majority of votes cast
in an annual election called for such purpose; and
WHEREAS, the regular annual election of officers of the City of Euless,
Texas, is held on the first Saturday in May of each year; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Texas Election Code requires the City of Euless,
Texas, by appropriate action of its City Council, to establish a date not earlier
than the 20th day or later than the 30th day after the date the final canvass of
the main election is completed as the date for a runoff election, if required,
for the election of its Mayor and members of its City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas,
by adoption of this resolution to establish and designate the date of the runoff
of the U.S. senatorial election as the date for any runoff election required for
the election of members of said City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Euless:
Pursuant to the requirements of the Texas Election Code, any runoff
election required for the election of Mayor and members of the City Council of
the City of Euless, Texas, following the regular annual election for such offices
shall be held on a date to coincide with the date of the runoff of the U.S.
senatorial election.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS, on this the 23rd day of March, 1993.
