HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-813 05-07-1993RESOLUTION NO. 93 -813 RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL CITY OFFICER ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, ON MAY 1, 1993, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILLING THE CITY COUNCIL POSITIONS OF MAYOR, COUNCIL MEMBER PLACE TWO AND COUNCIL MEMBER PLACE FOUR. WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Euless, Texas on the 1st day of May, 1993, an election at which there was submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of the City of Euless, Texas, for their action and vote therefore candidates for the offices of Mayor, Council Member Place Two, and Council Member Place Four. WHEREAS, there were cast at said election a total of 4,567 votes; and WHEREAS, only duly qualified resident electors of said City of Euless, Texas, voted at said election, and said election was called and held in strict conformity with the laws of the State of Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the election described in the preamble to this Resolution was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with the law; that said election was held in the manner required by law; that only duly qualified resident electors of the City of Euless, Texas, voted at said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that votes cast at said election for the offices of Mayor, Council Member Place Two and Council Member Place Four as follows: MAYOR Place 2 Neal Adams Glenn Walker Mary Lib Saleh TOTAL 1,717 1,073 1,524 Todd Smith 3,207 R. D. Sibilsky 537 Place 4 Elmer Knoll 326 Steve Overton 512 Charles Miller 1,607 Janice Griffin 1,058 TOTAL VOTES CAST: 4,567 That the above canvass be, and the same is hereby approved. SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas hereby officially declares that Todd Smith has been elected to City Council Member Place Two to serve until May of 1996 or until his successor is duly elected and qualified. SECTION 3. That a runoff election will be required for the office of Mayor in which the candidates receiving the highest and second highest votes were Neal Adams and Mary Lib Saleh. SECTION 4. That a runoff election will be required for the office of Council Member Place Four in which the candidates receiving the highest and second highest votes were Charles Miller and Janice Griffin.
