HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-816 05-11-1993RESOLUTION NO. 93 -816 REQUESTING THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO EXPEDITE THE AUTHORIZATION OF FUNDING FOR THE REDESIGN AND RECONSTRUCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 157 TO A 6 -LANE DIVIDED (OR 7 -LANE UNDIVIDED ALTERNATE) CONCRETE FACILITY FROM GREEN OAKS BOULEVARD IN ARLINGTON NORTH TO STATE HIGHWAY 10 IN EULESS WHEREAS, the City of Euless, the City of Arlington, the City of Fort Worth, and Tarrant County share a common interest and desire to have State Highway 157 extended and improved between Green Oaks Boulevard in Arlington and State Highway 10 in Euless; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Euless, Arlington, Fort Worth, and the DFW Metroplex would benefit significantly from the proposed improvement of this roadway; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless views the proposed improvement of State Highway 157 as an important part of its Thoroughfare Plan; and WHEREAS, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has designated this portion of State Highway 157 as a Strategic Regional Arterial Roadway; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless has previously petitioned the Texas Department of Transportation for funding authorization of these improvements; and WHEREAS, the NCTCOG's Mobility 2010 Plan states that the upgrading of State Highway 157 to a Strategic Regional Arterial (SRA) would provide a significant enhancement in State Highway 157 roadway capacity and safety; and WHEREAS, the proposed upgrading of State Highway 157 would significantly reduce the potential for future flooding of State Highway 157; and WHEREAS, the completion of these improvements would significantly relieve projected traffic congestion on State Highway 360; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS; That the City of Euless supports the redesign and expedited reconstruction of State Highway 157 from Green Oaks Boulevard in Arlington north to State Highway 10 in Euless. APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, on the llth day of May, 1993, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions. APPROVED: Ha old D.
