Dear Ms. Harris:
Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns about the
walking trails in Wilshire Park.
Our city parks are a great source of pride for our community and we
always try to make them as beautiful and useful as possible. Rick
Herold, Director of Community Services, has informed me that he is
studying the cost to the city for an all-weather trail for Wilshire
Park.
Ideally, we would rather have the trail inside the park but this may
not be feasible. Because of drainage problems, we are also looking
into putting a loop trail around the tennis courts and soccer field at
Wilshire Park. This option involves the cooperation of the HEB School
District and looks promising. I hope we can construct a walking
trail in Wilshire Park that is both enjoyable and useful.
I appreciate you writing to us and bringing your concerns to our
attention. It's good to know that Euless residents care about our
city. If the city of Euless can be of any further assistance, please
let us know.
Sincerely,
Harold D. Samuels

Re: Citizen Complaint.... Wilshire Park
I talked with Ruby Harris whoa h-: ?ddressed a letter tr, the Mayor
concerning the conc€_'. '.on of Wily ,ire Park. She had z quested a
jogging trav?. within the park. Additionally, she was not pleased
with the condition of the park (trash and glass) and the
amenities within the facility.
I explained to her that we had indeed put a trail that went thru
the trees. However, our rock screening product, which we use
thru-out the trail system will not work at that facility due to
extreme drainage problems.
After a few rains xe removed the product. our plan was to put in
a loop trail arc_ind the tennis courts and soccer field at
Wilshire Park. Although, most of that is school property they
had expressed no problem with that in a conversation I had with
them a few months ago. Mrs. Harris would rather have the trail
within the park itself. Ideally, we would as well...
The only opportunity would be L-.o place an all-weather trail,
either blacktop or concr i7e wihin the park. Mr. Crane will meet
with the Public Works Department to check on the possibly of such
a trail as well as the cost.
Additionally, I let Mrs. Harris know that we appreciated her
concerns, and that we would keep her abreast of further park
improvements (such as picnic tables which will be coming in
soon).
She is a concerned citizen and the parks department will do their
best to make her happy and let her know her concerns have been
addressed.
Councilman Boatright had looked at the park and called us. We
went out and met with him and will keep the Councilman involved
in the process.
