WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2.021 of the Election Code of the State of Texas, and
the Euless City Charter, it is provided that if no candidate for a particular
office receives the vote necessary to be elected in an election requiring a
majority vote, a runoff election for that office is required.
WHEREAS, a canvassing of the returns and declaring the results of a Special City
Officer Election held on November 2, 1993, was approved by the City Council on
November 8, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the canvass determined that, in the race for Council Member, Place Five,
no candidate received a majority of the votes cast; and
WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the office
of Council Member, Place Five were Glenn D. Walker and Shirly Lowe;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
There is hereby ordered a run -off election to be held in the City of Euless,
Texas, on the 4th day of December, 1993, for the purpose of filling the position
of Council Member, Place Five, who shall serve until May 1994, or until a
successor has been duly qualified. The effective date of taking office shall be
as soon as the returns are canvassed. The candidate receiving a majority of the
votes cast for City Council Member Place Five shall be declared elected to such
office.
SECTION 2
The names of Glenn D. Walker and Shirly Lowe, eligible candidates for the office
of Council Member, Place Five, shall be placed on the ballot for such election
by the City Secretary in the order of their standing in the computation of votes
as prescribed by law, and the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Euless.
SECTION 3
All qualified voters determined by the laws of the State of Texas, the Charter
and Ordinances of the City of Euless shall be entitled to vote at such election.
For the purpose of said election, the entire City is hereby constituted into two
voting precincts. Voting on Election Day, December 4, 1993, shall be conducted
at Bear Creek Elementary School, 401 Bear Creek Drive, Euless, Texas, 76039 and
the City of Euless Midway Park Recreation Center, 300 W. Midway Drive, Euless,
Texas 76039, and said election shall be held between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and
7:00 P.M. on the aforementioned date. Registered voters living in the City of
Euless in County Precincts 3036, 3160, 3183, 3247, 3329, 3335, 3336, 3391, 3414
and 3432, will vote at the Midway Park Recreation Center. Registered voters
living in the City of Euless in County precincts 3216, 3389 the portions of 3322
and 3390 that are in the City of Euless limits will vote at Bear Creek Elementary
School.
SECTION 4
Early voting for the voters in all precincts in the City of Euless shall be
allowed and conducted within the times and in the manner provided by law, and the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Euless and shall take place at the City of
Euless Midway Park Recreation Center, 300 W. Midway Drive, Euless, Texas 76039,
on the following dates:
Monday - Friday, November 15 - 19
Monday - Wednesday, November 22 - 24
Monday and Tuesday, November 29 and 30

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
8:00 a.m. to 5 :00 p.m.

The Presiding Election Judge for each precinct shall appoint not less than two
nor more than 10 qualified election clerks to serve and assist in conducting said
election; provided, that if the Presiding Judge actually serves as expected, the
Alternate Presiding Judge shall serve as one of the clerks. All appointments
shall be in accordance with the terms and provisions of the Texas Election Code.
Election judges and clerks shall be compensated for services rendered at a
precinct polling place at an hourly rate of $5 per hour.

SECTION 6
The results of the election shall be certified, canvassed, and returned in the
form and manner prescribed by the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and
Ordinances of the City of Euless.
SECTION 7
Notices of the election prescribed by this Resolution shall be promulgated,
published, and posted in keeping with the laws of the State of Texas, and the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Euless.
ADOPTED at a special called meeting of the Euless City Council on the 8th day of
November, 1993, by a vote of 6 ayes, o nays, and o abstentions.
