Water Conservation
An irrigation system is a great option to have as
a Texas homeowner. If your home already has a
system, or you choose to install one, you may enjoy
the benefits that come with it. An irrigation system
plays a vital role in keeping all your flowerbeds and
lawns looking their best. Now that it is summer,
it is a good time to inspect and make sure your
system is'performing at its best. All heads should
spray uniformly and pressure should be the same
at all heads, if designed correctly. If this is not the
case, check for a leak or clogged nozzles. As the
temperature rises, it becomes more important to
conserve water.
Ways to save water:
• To reduce water evaporation and waste, citizens
are prohibited from watering outdoors from 10
a.m. — 6 p.m. year-round.
• Check when your systems are watering and limit
landscape watering to two days each week.
• Plant native grasses and plants that are drought
tolerant and require minimal water.
• Mulching all trees and shrubs with a 3" to 4"
layer of mulch will help retain moisture and keep
weeds away.
• Make sure your rain/freeze sensor is operating
correctly. This shuts down the controller operation
if moisture is detected and if temperatures drop
below 35°.
• Adjust all heads so they spray the turf or beds
and not the concrete. If water is running down
the street, you may be over watering and might
need to cut back your time.
• Most established lawns only need 1" of water
each week.
• Using drip irrigation is a great way to reduce
water loss due to evaporation. Drip irrigation
applies water where it is needed and slowly
enough that there is minimal run off.
• The best time to water is late evening or early
morning when temperatures are cooler and the
wind is minimal.
For any issues with your irrigation system, please
contact a state -licensed irrigator to perform your
repairs and installations. For watering tips, free
irrigation checks and water smart videos, visit
SaveTarrantWater.com or WaterIsAwesome.com.

away.

Harry Zimmer Retires
from City Council
After serving on the City Council for almost 10
years, Harry Zimmer has retired. He chose not to run
for re-election for Place 5 in the May election. With
his Master of Science and Engineering degrees from
Stanford University, Mr. Zimmer has been a great
asset to the Council.
Volunteering is important to Mr. Zimmer. In fact,
his many hours ofvolunteertime earned him the
2023 Lifetime Contribution Award. Over the years,
he has served on several City boards, including
the Economic Development Advisory Board, the
Housing and Structures Board, and the Zoning
Board of Adjustments, among others. He focuses
much of his community outreach through 6 Stones,
a nonprofit organization, and he serves on the boards
of the Chippeway Park Water Association and the
Forest Pointe Estates Owners Association.
Mr. Zimmer and his wife, Diane, are avid supporters
of the Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library, and are
active members of the Euless Library Foundation.
The City of Euless wants to thank Former Council
Member Harry Zimmer for his valued contributions
to Euless and for his countless hours of dedicated
service to our community.

How Economic
Development Benefits You
One of the goals of the the Planning and Economic
Development Department is to create long-term
revenue sources for the City through retail sales.
The establishments within Euless city limits
provide sales tax revenue to the City, which in turn
funds City services. Euless retailers and restaurants
also create employment opportunities, as well as
shopping and dining options for residents.
Glade Parks is a an excellent example of how
Economic Development benefits the community.
This 194-acre center features retailers, restaurants
and a movie theater. Three of the newest additions
to Glade Parks are: At Home, a big -box retail store
specializing in home decor items; Kura Revolving
Sushi Bar, a restaurant serving authentic Japanese
cuisine on a conveyor belt; and Piada Italian Street
Food, a restaurant focusing on authentic dishes
made of simple, fresh ingredients.
It was recently announced that H-E-B is officially
coming to Glade Parks South. The popular grocery
store is projected to open in the second half of 2026.
