A RESOLUTION RENAMING 'WESTHAVEN DRIVE" IN
WESTPARK PROFESSIONAL CENTER TO "DOCK
McGINNIS DRIVE"
WHEREAS, Dock McGinnis settled on a 90 -acre farm in 1884 in what is now the
City of Euless; and
WHEREAS, a request has been made by Mr. Lawrence W. Jernigan, Sr. to name
a street after his grandfather, Dock McGinnis; and
WHEREAS, the Historical Preservation Committee voted unanimously to recommend
that a street be named after Dock McGinnis within the boundaries of that settler's original
farm; and
WHEREAS, the Street Naming Committee concurs with the recommendation of the
renaming of "Westhaven Drive" to "Dock McGinnis Drive"; and
WHEREAS, all property owners abutting such street have been personally contacted
by city officials and none object to such street name change;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION I
The street known as "Westhaven Drive" in Westpark
Professional Center, as filed in Vol. 388 -180, Page 88, Tarrant
County Plat Records and Lot 2R, Block 1, Westpark
Professional Center filed in Vol. 388 -196, Page 11, Tarrant
County Plat Records, hereby be known and iden,tified as "Dock
McGinnis Drive."
SECTION 11
The City Secretary is hereby directed, promptly after passage
hereof, to furnish a copy of this resolution to the U.S. Postal
Service, emergency service providers, Tarrant County and the
Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District.
SECTION I11
The City Secretary shall have this resolution recorded among
the plat records of Tarrant County, Texas.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 11th day of October , 1994, at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas.
