Regular Meeting
Euless City Council
March 11, 1958
The City Council met in regular session
on March 11, 1958, at 7:30 p.m.
Present and presiding were Mayor Ernest
M i I I i ca n , Jr., and Councilmen J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and
W. 0. Murray.
Guests of the Council were Rev. Clayton
Lewis, Mrs. Johnson, and Mr. Keene, and candidates for City Council who were
assigned places on the ballot by drawing numbers.
Rev. Lewis opened the meeting with a
word of prayer. Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Keene discussed with the Council,
worker's compensation and sick and accident benefits for City employees.
Fire Chief G i I I gave the Council some
valuable information incident to the types and costs of fire trucks.
A motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman Murray, designated the employment of F. D. Sheppard as being dual.
First, he is employed as desk sergeant directly under Chief of Police Sustaire,
and secondly, he is employed as Court Clerk directly under Judge Payton.
The motion was adopted.
Councilman Cadenhead offered a motion,
seconded by Councilman Murray, r e q u i r i n g the Police Department t o turn a l l
police funds from fines, court costs, etc., into the City Secretary, who in
turn is to make a deposit in the bank and receipt the Police Department for
same. The motion was adopted.
Another motion by Councilman Cadenhead,
seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed that F. D. Sheppard and Johnny
Wilson be bonded to the City in the amounts of $1,000 each, the City to bear
the expense of bonding. The motion was adopted.
Councilman Anderson moved that Ordinance
No. 93, identified as weed cutting ordinance, be adopted. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Cadenhead and was adopted by unanimous vote.
On a final motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman Murray, the Mayor was appointed to secure the services
of Robert Nail as chairman, and Billy Byers and Grady Riggs as helpers, to
audit the books of the City of Euless. The motion was adopted.
