Euless City Council
March 18, 1958
Mayor Millican called a special meeting
of the City Council for March 18, 1958, at 7:30 p.m.
Councilmen present were J. S. Anderson,
S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and W. 0. Murray.
Meeting with the Council on various
business items were Mr. B i l l y Keene, who discussed employees insurance.
Fire Chief A. B. G i I I and Messrs. D. J. Young and Jimmy Payton were present
to offer some valuable information on the proposed purchase of a fire truck
for the City of Euless.
Councilman Horton moved and Councilman
Anderson seconded a proposal to grant Peter Pirsch a contract to sell to the
City of Euless one Peter Pirsch 750 GPM commercial pumper with chrome bumper
at a price not to exceed $8,857.00, and to contract with Mr. D. J. Young,
agent for Peter Pirsch, to equip the pumper with 600 feet of one and one half
inch, wax and gum treated hose at 98 cents per foot and 1500 of two and one
half inch wax and gum treated cotton hose at $1.27 per foot, the cost of the
hose not to exceed $2,493.00. The motion was unanimously adopted.
A motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Anderson, moved that Resolution No. 14, adopted by the City
Council on March 13, 1958, providing for the City of Euless to borrow money
from the Hurst State Bank, be withdrawn or rescinded. The motion was adopted
by unanimous vote.
By way of instruction, the City Secretary
was asked to secure from Attorney Bondurant a properly worded and legal motion
whereby the City Council as a body can make the necessary arrangements with
Hurst State Bank to finance the balance due on the patrol car and the amount
estimated to purchase and equip a new fire truck, with the understanding and
legal procedure that when revenue from the City's tax program is received,
the f i n a n c i a l o b l i g a t i o n can and w i l l be transferred to and assumed by the City
of Euless.
