MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2024
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order by Chairperson Jorge Chac at 7:00 p.m.
on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in the Conference Room of the library at 201 N. Ector Drive. Those present
included: Chairperson Jorge Chac, Vice Chairperson Jim Hamilton, Board Members John Lentini and
Barney Snitz. Board Members Rochelle Ragas, Chris McAllister, and Philip Tedone were not present.

ITEM NO.2 APPROVAL OF LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairperson Chac asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on June 6,
2024. The motion was made by Mr. Lentini and seconded by Mr. Snitz. All were in favor and the
motion carried.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairperson Chac welcomed all visitors.
Staff Update/ Highlight
Ms. Knight introduced Gina Heitland, a new Library Aide in the Library Services Department. The present
board members introduced themselves. Ms. Myers spoke about Ms. Heitland's high quality of work during
her time at the library. Ms. Heitland recounted her first experience in Euless and provided an overview of
her professional background as well as her personal experience with libraries.
The board welcomed Ms. Heitland and thanked her for her time.
Library Update
Ms. Knight reviewed the latest statistical summaries and provided a brief overview of the Brainfuse
JobNow digital resource. Ms. Knight also shared two recent stories of impact and a positive online review
of the library.

❖ Classes and Events Update
Ms. Jones gave an overview of upcoming classes and events including the meeting of the Euless Garden
Club focused on growing fall vegetables, a PreCollege Solutions workshop, the Read to Me Program, Silent
Book Club, and A Pirate Shindig special event. Ms. Jones included information about the end of the
Summer Reading Challenge.
Ms. Knight showed the board two examples of new adult kits that recently began circulating in the library
and provided an overview of the materials available.
Ms. Knight also informed the board of the upcoming Euless Library Foundation's annual meeting in
September, which will take the form of a town hall.
ITEM NO.5 REPORTS
❖ Library Board Chairperson
Chairperson Chac commended the library on the number of new patrons reported for the month of June.
Ms. Jones explained that she has noticed an increase in new families in the Euless area.
Mr. Chac inquired about the availability of finance or budget-themed fun packs, and Ms. Knight confirmed
that is not something the library offers at this time.
Mr. Chac asked if there are any programs at this time that are being considered for improvements. Ms.
Knight spoke highly of the Programs department and their process for evaluating the success of their
programs. Ms. Jones included that they are currently working on changing some of their program
partnerships and that some exciting updates may be coming soon.
❖ Library Board Vice Chairperson
Vice Chairperson Hamilton inquired about the bubble wall and ongoing maintenance. Ms. Knight explained
that the Euless Parks and Community Services Department is assisting with the wall and plan to make
repairs soon.
❖ Library Board Members
Mr. Lentini inquired about the availability of parking racks for bikes and scooters at the library.
Ms. Knight spoke about the process for obtaining a second bike rack and possible solutions for the issue of
bikes being left around building entrances.
ITEM NO.6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Ms. Portugal commended the library on their focus on customer service and spoke about the public facing
aspect of the library services. Ms. Portugal expressed abundant gratitude for the opportunities for mothers
to find community at the library.
ITEM NO.7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Chac asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Mr. Hamilton and seconded by
Mr. Lentini. The meeting was adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
