RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SUBMISSION OF A PROJECT
NOMINATION FORM TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO RECEIVE PROJECT FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR
THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE
TRAIL AND ASSURING THAT THE CITY OF EULESS WILL COMPLY
WITH THE LOCAL MATCH PROVISIONS AND FISCAL REPORTING
REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION
ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the United States of America, through its passage of the
Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 ( ISTEA), has provided project design
and construction funding for the development of multimodal transportation facilities including
pedestrian and bicycle trails; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Texas, through its establishment of the
Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program (STEP), has provided a project submission,
review and approval process to distribute ISTEA funding for such facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless supports the development of trail facilities capable of
providing multimodal transportation opportunities for its current and future residents, as well as
those of its neighboring Cities; and
WHEREAS, the Euless City Council has adopted a Parks Master Plan that supports the
development of trail facilities and specifically identifies the nominated project; and
WHEREAS, the North Central Texas Council of Governments has included projects
within its ALL -WAYS Plan for the long range development of a regional trail system; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless will comply with the local match provisions of the funding
assistance and the fiscal reporting requirements of the U. S. Department of Transportation, the
Texas Transportation Commission, and the Texas Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Euless desires having its nominated project considered for
enhancement funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Euless City Council supports the
submission of a project nomination form for funding assistance through the Statewide
Transportation Enhancement Program for Phase II development of a system of pedestrian and
bicycle trails.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Euless, Texas, on the 26 th day of March 1996, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays,
and 0 abstentions.
