RE: Contract for Joint Use of Trinity High School Swimming Pool
Dear Sirs:
BOARD OF EDUCATION
President
Carl J. Huetter
Vice President
Mrs. T. L. Totarevich
Secretary
Johnny F. Eden
At a regular Board of Education meeting of January 27, 1969, the contract provisions of
the Trinity High School swimming pool use were thoroughly examined and discussed again.
It was decided that this letter be drafted and delivered to you before your next regular
meeting.
The contract for the joint use of the swimming pool as submitted following the Euless City
Council meeting of January 14, 1969, is unacceptable. Such contract is a departure from
the area of understanding thought to have been reached in previous meetings between
the school and city personnel and representatives, and as set forth in an agreement approved
by the Trustees of the school district at their meeting on January 13.
The school district desires to cooperate and make joint use of the pool a reality. However,
the -contract proposed by the City of Euless imposes additional burdens on the school district
both financially and administratively. Also, the contract as proposed is such that the ob-
jectives of cooperation and joint use are substantially reduced and rendered meaningless
in comparison to the sacrifices to be made by the district.
if your city feels that there is an area on which agreement may be reached, the School
Board would be happy to meet with your Council at its convenience.
Respectfully, f
.r

MEMORANDUM TO: Mr. Newell Odell, Superintendent
H-E-B Independent School District
FROM: C. J. Griggs, City Manager
City of Euless
SUBJECT: Trinity Swimming Pool
This is to express our appreciation to you and your group of architects and
engineers for the briefing on the planning, to date, of the Trinity swimming
pool.
While many of the features pointed out were recognizable as excellent and im-
pressive, we must make mention of certain basics which are felt as essentials
to make the pool operation compatible for incorporation in the City recreation
program. These are as follows:
(1) Ladies' dressing, shower and powder room accouterments must afford
at least the minimum amount of privacy normally demanded of such
a facility, and it is impossible to overlay this on the fixtures
and furnishings of a boy's team room.
(2) Men's dressing room should have toilet fixtures sufficient to
encourage their use. (Possibly three)
(3) Spectator area should have rest rooms convenient for use.
(4) The outside entrance to the sun deck, as planned, is uncontrolled
and should be modified, re -located or re -arranged for positive
control.
(5) Concession space should be included for daily use in all seasons.
(6) Cashier's space, ticket booth and clothing check -in and check-out,
together with equipment needed for service should be included in
the design.
(7) Secure, inside -storage space needs to be provided for exclusive
City use.
(8) Fencing will be needed around outside area for control when the
sliding doors across the east wall are open.
(g) Air conditioning, ventilation and heating needs to have positive
control from the pool area only.
(10) A drinking fountain should be installed in the spectator area.
(11) It would be desirable to create a more colorful and decorative
atmosphere by the use of painting.
Attached is a draft of a form which may be used to develop a mutually satis-
factory arrangement.
