HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-964 01-28-1997RESOLUTION NO. 97 -964 A RESOLUTION WAIVING LIBRARY USER FEES FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN EULESS BUT LIVING IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH WHEREAS, there are students living in the City of Fort Worth who attend public schools in Euless; and WHEREAS, by virtue of their place of residence, these students are charged a user fee to borrow materials from the Euless Public Library; and WHEREAS, there is no Fort Worth Public Library branch library readily available to these students; and WHEREAS, the Euless Library Board is concerned that all citizens of the broader community have access to materials to further their education; and WHEREAS, the Euless Library Board supports the literacy efforts of the education community; and WHEREAS, the parents of these students also need access to library materials to assist their children in learning, and WHEREAS, non - Euless students attending Bear Creek Elementary School have free use of the Euless Library through a reciprocal borrowing agreement, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, that: fees for use of the Euless Public Library be waived for students attending public schools in Euless while residing in the City of Fort Worth, and for their families and that the user fee also be waived for teachers of schools in Euless. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 28th day of January, 1997, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays and 0 abstentions. ATTEST: /i /� / /_AO; ice usan Crim, C C, City Secretary Mary Lib Sal'` , Mayor APPROVED: RESOLUTION NO. 97 -963 AUTHORIZING CITY OF EULESS PARTICIPATION IN THE STATE OF TEXAS ALTERNATIVE FUELS PROGRAM WHEREAS, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton Counties have been designated by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 as an ozone non attainment area, and thus qualifies for the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement program funds: and WHEREAS, a program of converting new and existing vehicles from conventional fuels to alternative fuels desired, to be hereinafter identified as the "Alternative Fuels Program "; and WHEREAS, the North Central Texas Council of Governments has submitted the Alternative Fuels Program through the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission to the U.S. Environmental Agency for the incorporation in the State implementation plan to assist in the reduction of ozone - forming mobile emissions; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Euless desires to enter into this agreement with the State of Texas for fiscal year 1996 to establish the parties' obligations and responsibilities associated with the Alternative Fuels Program and hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign said agreement; ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 28 day of Jan , 1997, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 abstentions.
