Time spent with loved ones creating memories to last a lifetime is what it is truly all about. Euless has so many wonderful events planned, like our annual Parade of Lights, Swim with Santa, Breakfast with Santa, and so so much more! In this edition of Euless Today, we have highlighted just a few of the events happening within the City, and I encourage you and your family to make one or more of them a new family tradition. As you are filling up that calendar, please make a special entry on January 16, 2025, to join us at the annual Town Hall Meeting. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Euless City Hall Council Chambers, City leaders will share upcoming projects, plans, and programs for 2025. City Leaders and City Council would love to hear your suggestions. And as we say goodbye to 2024, I would like to wish each and every one of you a very happy holiday season. THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF Free Christmas Parade of Lights Saturday, December 7, 6:30 p.m. Along Midway Dr. -From 157 to the Aquatic Park parking lot The City of Euless is excited to celebrate our 30th Annual Parade of Lights. This year's theme will be focused around "Classic Christmas Movies" and we encourage groups and organizations to enter free of charge. The parade will travel from Trinity High School eastbound along Midway Drive and ends at the Euless Aquatic Center. Start a new family tradition by being a part of this wonderful event as a spectator or as a float contestant. Below are a few you may want to participate in. • Celebration Brunch, Friday, December 6, 11 a.m., free of charge. Celebrate the 14-year anniversary of the Euless Family Life Senior Center with a tasty brunch. Texas Motor Speedway Christmas Lights & Dinner, Thursday, December 19, 4:50 - 9:30 p.m., $7.00 (plus cost of dinner). Experience the magic of Christmas at the dazzling light show at TMS. The evening starts with dinner at Newk's Eatery near the speedway. Dinner is followed by a 45-minute drive through the Gift of Lights holiday light show. After the drive, you can stop in Santa's workshop for a photo or two and a cup of hot chocolate. Transportation is provided. Christmas Potluck, Friday, December 20, 6:30 p.m. Bring your favorite dish to share at this festive potluck dinner. The Senior Center is providing meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Please make enough to serve 10 to 12 people, or pay $10.00 by December 1, if you would like the Senior Center to provide your side dish. Membership and registration are required. New Year's Eve Lunch, Tuesday, December 31, noon, cost: $5.00. Ring in the New Year with fun, fellowship, special music, and dancing. Membership and registration are required. Swim with Santa Friday, December 13, 6 p.m. Natatorium 300 W. Midway Drive Santa is taking a break from the North Pole to come take a dip in our indoor heated pool! Bring your Christmas lists, take photos, and join in on some reindeer games. Then decorate delicious sugar cookies to take home and enjoy. Santa's hot cocoa and apple cider will be served by the fireside. *All participants must be registered. To register, please scan the QR code. Heritage Park Christmas Saturday, December 14,11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Heritage Park 201 Cullum Drive Bring the whole family to experience an old- fashioned Christmas at historic Heritage Park. Take a guided tour of the Himes Log House, McCormick Barn, Fuller House, and the Euless Heritage Museum to learn about the history of Euless. Visit with Santa Claus, enjoy Christmas songs by local school choirs, create holiday ornaments, and so much more. There will be kettle corn for sale along with free refreshments for everyone. Winter Break Camp for Ages 7 -12 Euless Family Life Center 300 W. Midway Drive Are you looking for ways to keep your children engaged and entertained during Winter Break? Now is the time to sign up for Winter Dayz Camp. This day camp provides fun activities that include games, arts and crafts, and even swimming in our heated indoor pool. Make sure to bring lunch, two snacks, and a water bottle to camp every day. Winter Break Camp registration is open to all members of our community. Camp dates are December 23, 26 - 27, 30 and January 2 - 3, from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. • Camp per day: $40 Resident/$50 Non -Resident • Camp all six days: $200 Resident/$250 Non - Resident (includes discount) Registration opens December 1 and is in person only. Camp fills quickly and is on a first come, first served basis, so make sure to mark your calendar and register early! Breakfast Saturday, December 14, 8:30 -11 a.m. Texas Star Conference Centre 1400 Texas Star Parkway Bring the whole family and enjoy a festive morning filled with delicious food, holiday cheer, and special moments with Santa. Be sure to capture the magic as your children share their wish lists with him. Plus, our local elves will be hosting fun crafts for kids of all ages to enjoy. Due to limited seating, reservations are required and must be prepaid by table —no payments will be accepted at the door. Prepaid reservations made by December 6: • Table of 4: $70 • Table of 6: $105 • Table of 10: $175 Don't miss out on this fun -filled holiday event! .;: Christmas Tree Recycling 26 - January Euless Family Life Center 300 W. Midway Drive Don't throw away your live Christmas tree — recycle it! It's easy to do. Simply remove all decorations and lights from your tree and then drop it off at the NEW designated area on the northeast side of the Rec Center December 26 through January 11. The City will then turn your tree into mulch for use throughout the year to maintain parks and medians. Euless' Christmas tree recycling program creates approximately 10,800 pounds of new mulch each year. On January 11, the Parks Department will host a mulching demonstration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents may bring one bag to fill with mulch for their gardens. For more information, call 817-685- 1650. Holiday Closures Recycling Pick- Up City facilities will be closed on December 24, 25, and January 1. Christmas Day and New Year's Day will fall on a Wednesday, so the trash and recycling services on Thursday will shift to Friday, and Friday services will shift to Saturday. If you are looking to adopt a new pet into your family, please visit the Euless Animal Shelter. If you have extra love to share, we are always looking for volunteers to foster. Experienced shelter volunteers can provide training and resources to you. The HEB 2025 Youth in Government Class Starts Soon It's time to enroll for the HEB 2025 Youth in Government course. Classes begin in January. The cities of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and the HEB Chamber of Commerce are partnering to engage students in city government and community involvement. Participants have the chance to win a college scholarship! Classes are on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Transportation will not be provided, and meetings are held at various locations in HEB. A light dinner is provided. Classes will be held on the 2nd and 4th Monday beginning January 13 through April 7, with Graduation scheduled for April 14. Applicants must live in Hurst, Euless, or Bedford and be a junior or senior in high school by January 2, 2025.
