Minutes
November 11, 2024
CALL TO ORDER
Due to absence of Chairperson Suzy McCormick, the meeting was called to order at 10:00am by
Mavy Wright and was held at the Heritage Museum, Euless. She also welcomed our new
members, James Park and Jud Park.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Doris Brown, Randy Byers, Elaine Green, Patsy Hoover, Mary Hunt, Keith Jernigan, Jud Park, James
Park, Anniece Mcl<anna, Gary Parker, Linda Pool, Joe Robinson, Norma Runyon, Faye Stinneford,
and Mavy Wright.
STAFF PRESENT
Parks and Community Services Director - Duane Strawn; Assistant Director of Parks and
Community Services - Elizabeth Johnson; and Parks & Community Services Administrative
Secretary - Jodie Dunn.
VISITORS PRESENT
None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mary Hunt made a motion to accept the October minutes, seconded by Patsy Hoover. With
unanimous approval, the motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The beginning balance effective today is $7,680.69. There was a donation deposit of $54.00.
There was a $240.63 expense Halloween candy and containers. The ending balance effective
November 11 is $7,494.06.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment— Linda Pool thanked the members for their
assistance at the November Open House; she circulated the Open House docent signup sheets
for December and January. She advised the members of the Christmas event on December 14
from 11-3pm; so we need all available docents to assist.
2. Acquisition —Gary Parker advised there was a donation of a view camera, equipment and
books from a long-time resident, Juanita Smith. The camera belonged to her deceased
husband.
3. Facebook—Linda Pool She stated she has been sharing the Open House posts to various
groups on Facebook and reminded the members to share as well. She noted there was
increasing followers to the groups. She also encouraged the members to share the Christmas
event posts to their Facebook feeds. Liz Johnson mentioned another holiday kickoff event

taking place at Glade Parks on Saturday, November 16 from 6-9pm with another exciting
drone show at 8:45pm.
4. Plaque — up to date.
5. Display Signs — Mavy stated they are working on the signs for the Blackie Sustaire display. She
also mentioned the Classroom signs and photos were complete.
6. Publicity/Programs/Speakers—no report.
7. Heritage Park —Gary Parker presented several items from Blackie Sustaire's family (flag that
flew over the Texas Capitol; his service badges. It was recommended the items be displayed
at the renovated Police Offices; however, it was mentioned the family asked they be donated
to the museum.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT— Ms. Wright suggested the members meet in the next week or so to
decorate the Fuller House for Christmas. Several members decided to meet at 10am on
Wednesday, November 20.
STAFF REPORT— Duane Strawn had several items to discuss:
1. He distributed the recent copy of the Euless Parks & Community Services Playbook. He
called several dates to our attention.
2. Additional work will be required on the museum foundation, as well as painting/paper
hanging in the Fuller House. There is a search for a vendor for the painting/paper
hanging. It is anticipated the museum will be closed during the repairs.
3. He also stated his staff would arrange docent parking for the Christmas event at Heritage
Park and that his team will be preparing seasonal decorating.
COMMITTEE REPORT / INPUT
Anniece McKanna mentioned she had updated the recent membership roster. However, a change
needs to be made for Joe Cannon who has recently moved.

A motion was made by Faye Stinneford and seconded by Elaine Green to adjourn the meeting.
Ms. Wright declared the meeting adjourned at 10:45am.
