Heritage Park —no report. However, the Fuller House AC needs repair because the condenser
and fan went out. It will be repaired soon.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT— Ms. McCormick mentioned the passing of Elmer Boyd (Norma Lively's
cousin). Elmer was the last surviving Dallas Police Detective to serve who had ties to the JFK
assassination. He was also an active member of the Euless Police Department/Municipal Courts
for several years before retiring. Suzy attended the funeral and stated it was very moving and a
great tribute to him.
STAFF REPORT— Duane Strawn had several items to discuss:
A. He indicated the City is assessing the custodial company to determine if the needs are
being met.
B. He and Linda Pool discussed repairing the wallpaper in the Fuller House. Also, he offered
his staff to work on replacing the rails and photos in the military room.
C. The computer and printer in the museum office would be removed and returned to IT
Department today. The IT Department would try to retrieve and save anything
worthwhile.
D. He suggested the forming of a membership committee to solicit new members to grow
our group. His department would be willing to help with marketing, but it would be our
responsibility to conduct a new member search.
COMMITTEE REPORT / INPUT
Linda Pool mentioned the harp on the table lamp in the Fuller House has been repaired and will
be replaced today.
Since many visitors inquire as to the second floor of the Fuller House, it was mentioned the stairs
are treacherous and not ADA compliant which prevents anyone from visiting it. A suggestion was
made to leave the door open and roped off so the visitors could see a bit of the upstairs (though
the view is not very helpful). Anniece McKanna stated she had recently taken photos and will be
glad to make a display.
It was mentioned there were a couple of video recordings that could be used to promote the
Historical Preservation Committee to citizens and prospective Committee candidates. Mavy
Wright suggested reaching out to Matt Sanders (Communications/Marketing Manager) for
assistance in locating the videos.
Randy Byers spoke with a visitor during a tour of the Himes Log House. The person was a Himes
family member who currently lives out-of-state and was not aware of the history.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Randy Byers, seconded by Gary Parker to adjourn the meeting. Ms.
McCormick declared the meeting adjourned at 10:35am.
Respectfully submitted by:
Anniece McKanna, Committee Secretary
