RESOLUTION MOVING THE ELECTION POLLING PLACE
CURRENTLY CONDUCTED AT THE MIDWAY RECREATION
CENTER TO THE MEETING ROOM IN THE LIBRARY
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
WHEREAS, the Euless City Council deems it necessary to move the polling location
at Midway Recreation Center for early voting and election day voting to the Euless Public
Library meeting room; and
WHEREAS, the new library is more centrally located in the precinct; and,
WHEREAS, the library is located on the same campus as City Hall so it would be
convenient to citizens tending to other business at the Municipal Complex; and,
WHEREAS, more voting -age adults frequent the library than the Midway Recreation
Center on a routine basis, as many users of the Midway Recreation Center are youth
rather than voting -age adults; and,
WHEREAS, while Midway Recreation Center is handicap equipped, the library has
more handicap parking spaces available and automatic opening doors at the main entrance
to the library; and,
WHEREAS, the Midway Recreation Center has increased its programming over the
last 2 years to the extent that it is sometimes very congested in both the parking area as
well as the lobby area where voters must pass through to reach the voting area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Euless,
Texas, that the necessary preclearance request be submitted to the United States
Department of Justice to move the polling place for early voting and election day voting,
currently conducted at the Midway Recreation Center, to the meeting room in the Euless
Public Library effective immediately.
