Euless City Council
April 25, 1958
The City Council met in special session
April 25, 1958, at 7:30 p.m.
Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., and
Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Bobby Fuller, Paul Horton, W. 0. Murray and Albert
Tillery.
The main purpose of the meeting was to select
and hire some one as City Secretary and such other duties as he might be
required to assume.
The Council discussed with Mr. R. D. Burnett
the securing of his services as City Inspector.
On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead, seconded
by Councilman Horton, the Council approved and adopted, by a vote of four
for and one not voting, the motion to hire Mr. Flippo as City Secretary at a
salary of $300.00 per month effective May 1, 1958.
On a motion by Councilman Fuller, with a
second from Councilman Murray, a move was unanimously approved setting the
working hours of City Secretary Flippo, beginning at 12:00 noon Mondays through
court period Monday night, and from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays through
Saturdays.
Councilman Horton offered a motion, seconded
by Councilman T i l l e r y that a l l warrant fees (plus 25 %of fines collected when
$400.00 or more is collected in fines) be paid to the warrant officer. The
motion was adopted.
On a motion by Councilman Fuller, seconded
by Councilman Murray, it was moved and adopted that a I I money on past due
fines collected by the warrant officer be deposited in a separate account to
be used exclusively for possible future emergencies.
Councilman Horton made a motion, seconded
by Councilman Tillery, that the Building Commissioner be authorized to issue
Tri- Cities Development Corporation building permits without ordinance
qualification when and if such permits are requested. It was adopted by
unanimous vote.
On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead,
seconded by Councilman Horton, it was moved that radio equipment be installed
on the basis of the Civil Defense assuming $1,078.00 of the cost to the City
as an assistance to the radio program for the Department of Public Safety to
the City of Euless. The City to assume a like amount of $1,078.00 owing and
payable to the Motorola People. The motion was unanimously adopted.

Councilman Horton offered a motion, seconded
by Councilman Cadenhead, that a l l police employees of the City of Euless be
hired on a 90 days probation period, at the end of which such employees are
to be entitled to sick leave and $100.00 per year uniform allowance payable
in two payments, the first payment shall be made following the serving of the
probation and the second payment shall be made nine months later. The motion
was adopted by unanimous vote.
