HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-04 Euless Today2025 *April r F Dear Citizens, This season is one of my favorites. Spring is when we start to transition into warmer weather, vibrant floral colors begin to bloom, and it's the month the City hosts its annual Arbor Daze Festival. The incredible Parks & Community Services staff spend countless hours preparing for this fun, family - friendly event. Did you know that the trees given away at Arbor Daze are grown from acorns collected right here within our City limits? Every year staff cultivates between 3,000 and 4,000 trees from an acorn to a one -year -old sapling. The process is long, but the end result benefits our entire community. The acorns are collected from October to November and are placed into a water/bleach bath to remove any potential bacteria or fungus. They are then placed in a refrigerator for 45 days, this simulates winter. Then, they are taken out to simulate spring, and once the root has sprouted, the acorn is transferred into either one -gallon or three -gallon pots filled with soil that are watered and fertilized twice a week for the next 16 months. So, come on out and pick up a free tree to assist us with beautifying our community. Information on Arbor Daze can be found in this edition of Euless Today. 0 THEOFFICIAL PunaTION OF EUL°ESS City Offices Closed Euless City offices will be closed on Friday, April 18, for a City holiday.
