HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-08-05e� Publ is Hearing Euless City Council August 5, 1958 A public hearing was held by the City Council on August 5, 1958, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilman S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, W. 0. Murray, and Albert Tillery. 1. The City Council discussed the proposed changes in Highway 183 by the Highway Department. The changes the City Council did not like were the proposed closing of the cross over road just east of the Post Office, and the proposed change at the White Auto Store and adjacent buildings. The City Council felt that these two proposed changes would greatly increase the chances for accidents if they were completed as outlined on the engineer's sketch of the proposed changes. It was decided that the City Secretary try to get Mr. Bossy Head of the Highway Department Engineers to come out here to go over these changes, or if that was not possible to make a date with him for the Mayor to go to see him and see if it would be possible to work out something better in these two places. I\b further action was taken at this time. Q A motion was made by Councilman Murray and seconded by Councilman Tillery, that the Chief of Police be allowed to install in his personal car the newly reconditioned police radio. The vote was three Councilmen in favor and one, Councilman Cadenhead, not voting. 3• A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded the Councilman Tillery, that the services of the Dog Warden Joe Harvey be terminated at the expiration of his extra week which will be up August 6, 1958. The vote in favor of this motion was unanimous. 4. A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded by Councilman Murray, to buy a shotgun for the police patrol car. The vote in favor of this motion was unanimous. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Tillery, and seconded by Councilman Murray, to approve and to ratify the writing of a letter by City Attorney W. L. Bondurant to Mrs. Floyd G. Chapman, informing her that she was violating Zoning Ordinance No. 33 by operating a beauty shop in her home at 100 Fannin Street, Midway Park Addition to Euless, Texas, and that the penalities were for this violation. Three Councilmen voted in favor of this motion and one, Councilman Cadenhead, voted against it. This action by the City Council to be inserted in the minutes of the Council meeting, July 22, 1958• 5. A motion was made by Councilman Murray, and seconded by Councilman Tillery, that the duties of the Dog Warden be turned over to the Police Department, paying them a fee of $.50 per dog for each that they catch and impound. This fee to be in addition to their regular salary. The vote in favor was unanimous. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Tillery, and seconded by Councilman Murray, to approve and to ratify the writing of a letter by City Attorney W. L. Bondurant to Mrs. Floyd G. H. Fuler and wife Edith Fuller; and Raymond Fuller and wife, Lorena Fuller, for a change in zoning of the following described property: Lying and situated in the City of Euless, Tarrant County, Texas, described as follows: Beginning at the Southwest corner of the Alexander and Cullum Subdivision of Euless, Texas; Thence North 500 feet; Thence East 190 feet; Thence South 500 feet; Thence West 190 feet to the place of beginning. Now zoned "A" Single Family Dwelling, to be zoned "B" Commercial; such application having been approved by the City Planning and ;Zoning Commission.
