HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Prevention Holiday Notice 1961FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY AT CHRISTMAS TIME ALL OVER THE WORLD HOLIDAY TIME SEEMS TO BE THE MOST DANGEROUS PERIOD FOR FIRES. THIS IS BECAUSE MANY OF THE WORLD CUSTOMS THAT OCCUR DURING THE HOLIDAYS FROM FALL THROUGH THE NEW YEAR, HAVE GROWN UP ABOUT THE USE OF FIRE, LANTERNS AND FIREWORKS. WE ARE LISTING A FEW OF THE HAZARDS WE WILL BE FINDING AT CFRISTMAS TIME. 1, Never Use Lighted Candles On Or Near A Tree. 2. Be Sure Strings Of Lights Have The Stamp Of Approval Of Underwriter's Laboratories. Check For Frayed Wires Before Using. 3. Keep Tree Away From Radiators, Fireplace And Doors. 4. Stand Tree In Bucket Of Water Or Wet Sand. 5. Clear Gift Wrappings Away From Tree. 6. Use Only Fireproof Ornaments. 7. Keep Electrical Toys Away From Tree. 8. Don't Leave Decorative Greens Up After They Become Dry. 9. Use Fireproof Party Decorations. 10. If You Use Extra Colored Lights Inside Or Outside The House For Decora- tions, Don't Overload The Circuit. NOTE During the 3-day Christmas week end, 1961, Euless Fire Department answered nineteen (19) fire calls, all caused by lack of proper care in shooting fireworks.
