Euless City Council
August 19, 1958
The City Council met in a called meeting
on August 1 9 , 1958, at 7 : 3 0 P.m. Present were Mayor Ernest M i I I i ca n , J r. ,
Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Bobby Fuller, W. 0. Murray and Albert Tillery.
1.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Murray, to give Mr. Ralph H. Henslee and the Houston
Fire and Casualty Company a release of their $12500.00 road repair bond in
the Cedar H i l l Addition, provided the roads were in satisfactory condition
and had been accepted by the County. The vote in favor of this motion was
unanimous.
2.
A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that Ordinance No. 101, annexing the Lawrence
D. Bell School site into the City of Euless be approved. The Hurst Euless
Independent School District Board passed a resolution August 18, 1958, requesting
the City of Euless to annex and incorporate the Lawrence D. Bell School site
into the City of Euless, Texas. Passage of this resolution is recorded in the
School Board minutes, page 59, dated August 18, 1958. Legal description is
as follows: There being 31 acres of the Henson McCoy survey Patent No. 539,
Volume 35, described as follows: Beginning at the Northeast corner of said
survey; Thence South with the east line of said survey 324 varas to a point
in the East Line of the survey; Thence West parallel with the North line of
said 31 acre tract; Thence North parallel with the East line of said survey
324 varas to a point in the North line of said McCoy Survey; Thence East with
the North l i n e of said McCoy Survey 540.1 varas to the place of beginning.
The Hurst Euless Independent School District Board is to furnish the City
of Euless with a copy of this resolution. The Councilmen present voted in
favor of this motion.

The City Secretary was instructed to write
to the Texas Electric Service Company and ask them if they can't give us a
better rate to the Lawrence D. Bell School, due to the increased consumption
of electric power in that part of Euless which they serve, and try to find
out what the rate w i I I be.
4.
A motion was made by
Councilman
Murray, and
seconded
by Councilman Cadenhead,
to instruct the City
Secretary
to write
the Hurst
Water Company, giving the
date of the annexation of the
addition which
they now
serve, and to put them on
notice that the City
of Euless
expects
them to pay
the 2 %Gross Receipts
Tax on the customers
they serve
in Euless.
The vote
in favor was unanimous.

5.
A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the request from the Texas Highway
Department for passing an ordinance and approving the proposed changes on
Highway 183 within the city limits of Euless, Texas, be tabled indefinitely
for further study. Three Councilmen voted in favor of this motion, and one,
Councilman Tillery, voted against it.
6.
A motion was made by Councilman Tillery,
and seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, to instruct the City Secretary to write
to Mr. Don Young, and try to get a definite date on the delivery of the new
f i re truck. The vote in favor was unanimous.

A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Tillery, to furnish Mr. A. B. G i I I with two hundred
dollars to cover the cost of getting the new fire truck back to Euless. He
is to spend whatever he has to, and return the unused part of the money. The
vote in favor of this motion was unanimous.
