AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 61 BY ADDING A
PROVISION PROHIBITING THE PASSING OF A SCHOOL BUS
WHILE SUCH BUS IS NOT MOVING: PROVIDING FOR THE
MARKING OF SCHOOL BUSES AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR
VIOLATION GOVERNING THE OVERTAKING AND PASSING OF
SCHOOL BUS IN THE INCORPORATED LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF EULESS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY T.HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section I.
That Ordinance No. 61 designated as the Traffic Ordinance of the City of
Euless, Texas, be amended so as to hereafter oe and read as follows:
(a) The driver of a vehicle upon a Public Highway or Street inside the
corporate limits of the City of Euless upon meeting or overtaking from either
direction any school ous which has stopped on the highway for the purpose of
receiving or discharging any spool children shall stop the vehicle immediately
afore passim, ' the school bus, but may then proceed past such school bus at a
speed which is prudent, not exceeding ten (10) miles per hour, and with due
caution for the safety of such children.
(b) Every bus used for the transportation of school children shall bear
upon the front and rear thereon a plainly visiole sign containing the words
" -CHOOL BUS" in letters not less than eight (8) inches in height. When a school
bus is being operated upon a hil,hway for purposes othern than the actual trans-
portation of children either to or from school, all marking thereon indicating
"SCHOOL BUS" shall be covered or concealed.
(c) The driver of a vehicle upon a highway with separate roadways need not
stop upon meeting or passing a school bus which is on a different roadway or when
upon a controlled- access highway and the school bus is stopped in a loading zone
which is a part of or adjacent to such hi,,hway and where pedestrians are not per-
mitted to cross the roadway.
Section II.
Penalty for violations of this ordinance: It shall be unlawful and constitute
a misdemeanor for any person to violate any of the provisions of this act.
Section III.
Any person who violates any provision of this act shall, upon conviction, be
punished by a fine of not less than($10.00)TEN DOLLARS nor more than TWO HUNDRED
($200.00) DOLLARS.
Section IV.
That this amended ordinance shall be in addition to the articles, terms, pro-
visions as contained in the Original Petition and an addition thereto, and shall be
construed in connection with Ordinance No. 61, the Original Traffic Ordinance of the
City of Euless.
Section V.
This Ordinance shall 'become effective and be in full force and effect from and
afteg its adoption and publication as provided by law.
