MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, MARCH 6, 2025
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order by Chairperson Jorge Chac at 7:00 p.m.
on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in the Conference Room of the library at 201 N. Ector Drive. Those present
included: Chairperson Jorge Chac, Vice Chairperson Jim Hamilton, Board Members John Lentini, Rochelle
Ragas, Philip Tedone, Al Devani and Wanda Peach. Board Member Chris McAllister was not present.

ITEM NO.2 APPROVAL OF LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairperson Chac asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on February 6,
2025. The motion was made by Mr. Hamilton and seconded by Mr. Tedone. All were in favor and the
motion carried.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairperson Chac welcomed all visitors.
ITEM NO.4 LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
•3 Library Giving Day Update
Ms. Knight provided an update on the efforts of the Euless Library Foundation on Library Giving Day, a
regional fundraising initiative in partnership with 26 other libraries across North Texas. Ms. Knight spoke
about her interview on the topic with Channel 5 for 5 Talk Street, which aired on Sunday, March 9. Ms.
Knight also offered for the board members to take yard signs and flyers for the event.
Mr. Lentini inquired how the funds are distributed amongst the libraries, so Ms. Knight explained how the
donation website is set up for individual contributions.
❖ Library Update
Ms. Knight reviewed the latest statistical summaries and provided a brief overview of the Fold3 Library
Resource, a database containing military records. Ms. Knight also shared three recent stories of impact that
highlighted the library's community resource binder, staff influence on young patrons, and positive patron
feedback. Ms. Knight also provided an update on the library's marketing and promotion strategies.

❖ Classes and Events Update
Ms. Jones gave an overview of recent and upcoming classes and events including AARP Tax Assistance,
an Interview Skills Class by Texas Workforce Solutions, Computer Classes, the Read to Me Program, Silent
Book Club, Family Place Parent Child Workshops, Bug Bingo Scavenger Hunt and Mess Fest. Ms. Jones
highlighted the popularity of the AARP Tax Help.
Ms. Jones spoke about the attendance of the Family Place Workshops and the presence of new families.
Ms. Jones informed the board of a recent partnership with Melissa and Doug on a new Blockables Party
event on March 29.
Mr. Devani inquired about the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Ms. Knight provided an
overview of the budget process for the city and for the library department.
Mr. Devani expressed concern for potentially increasing costs of digital materials. Ms. Knight explained
how these concerns are handled within the library and offered to have a senior librarian who is over the
library's collection, Kelsea Ciavaglia, come to the next meeting of the board to provide an overview on
material procurement.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
•S Library Board Chairperson
Chairperson Chac spoke about the recent Boards and Commissions Dinner. Mr. Chac inquired about the
frequency of the Texas Workforce Solutions courses and Ms. Jones expressed that the library makes an
effort to host them quarterly and that it is based on demand from the community.
Mr. Chac informed the board of the Mid -Cities Community Cats organization that traps, treats, and returns
stray cats around the Mid -Cities area.
❖ Library Board Vice Chairperson
Vice Chairperson Hamilton reminded the board of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee's tours of
Heritage Park on the second Saturday each month.
Mr. Hamilton also informed the board of the Concert in the Park at Glade Parks on Friday, March 14.
d• Library Board Members
Mr. Devani spoke about his experience at the Boards and Commissions Dinner and inquired about CPR
courses in the city. Ms. Portugal informed the board of a community First Aid and CPR Training course
being offered by the Euless Fire Department.
ITEM NO.6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Ms. Portugal commended the value in the programs and the sense of community at the library. Ms. Portugal
deemed it a destination in Euless.
ITEM NO.7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Chac asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Mr. Lentini and seconded by
Mr. Devani. The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.
