HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-02-10Historical Preservation Committee Minutes February 10, 2025 CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:00am by Chairperson Suzy McCormick at the Heritage Museum, Euless. MEMBERS PRESENT Randy Byers, Elaine Green, Patsy Hoover, Mary Hunt, Keith Jernigan, Suzy McCormick, Anniece McKanna, Jud Park, James Park, Gary Parker, Linda Pool, Joe Robinson, Norma Runyon, Faye Stinneford, and Mavy Wright. STAFF PRESENT Parks and Community Services Director - Duane Strawn; Parks & Community Services Assistant Director — Elizabeth Johnson; and Parks and Community Services Administrative Secretary - Jodie Dunn. VISITORS PRESENT None APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mary Hunt made a motion to accept the January minutes, seconded by Gary Parker. With unanimous approval, the motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT The beginning balance effective today is $8,044.33. There was a donation of $183. The ending balance effective February 10 is $8,227.33. STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS 1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment— Linda Pool circulated the docent signup sheets for March. She reminded the members that docents will not be needed in the Fuller House due to renovations. 2. Acquisition —no report. 3. Facebook—Linda Pool stated she has been sharing posts to various groups on Facebook and e encouraged members to share as well. She noted she met with citizen Zariyan Stark regarding the administrator of the group's Facebook page. Because the current administrator has passed away, we could either start a new group or try to contact a family member for possible access/password. 4. Plaque — up to date. Donations in memory of Bill Byers will continue through March. 5. Display Signs —up to date. HPC MTG 02102025 - Page 1 of 2 6. Publicity/Programs/Speal<ers—Ms. Wright suggested inviting a speaker from the Bird's Fort group. Suzy McCormick suggested doing a program on Western Hills Inn because Elvis stayed there many years ago; we could invite Carlton Hurdle (local Elvis impersonator). 7. Heritage Park —no report. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT — None STAFF REPORT — Mr. Strawn reminded members that the Fuller House will be closed for renovations. It appears the renovations are near completion and items will be ready for replacement of the display items. COMMITTEE REPORT / INPUT There was a discussion about the Arlington Historical Museum, dinosaur exhibit, and programs. Mention was made about a Facebook Group, Fort Worth Memories - the Administrator Larry Oneal posts interesting posts about our area. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Faye Stinneford and seconded by Randy Byers to adjourn the meeting. Ms. McCormick declared the meeting adjourned at 10:45am.
