CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:00 PM. On
Monday, May, 05, 2025, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones, Other Board Members present: Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Laird Leavoy and Gabriel Rosas.
Members absent: Magen Brown and John Raab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Duane Strawn, Assistant Parks
and Community Service Director Elizabeth Johnson, Parks Manager Randy Leach, Athletics
Supervisor Sandy Purcell, Aquatics/Senior Superintendent Richard Sharnsky, Recreation
Superintendent Alex Harvey and Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: No Visitors Present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the April 07,
2025 regular meeting. Roger Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Steve Doty. The vote was unanimous.

Parks and Commun itv Services Reports
o The Split Rail project is almost complete.
o Dani Franklin, Sandy Purcell and Holden Garner attended the Bell Helicopter
Wellness Fair to promote Health and Recreation.
o The Parks at Texas Star hosted the Texas Legends Major Tournament on
April 26 &271h. There were 36 teams from 16 different states that participated on
this tournament.
b. Parks Report - Randy Leach
o The turf at Parks at Texas Star was vacuumed. The vacuum aerates the pellets and
vacuums the seeds that are on the field.
o J.A. Carr Park had piers installed to put up a Shade Structure overthe playground.
o Midway Park had a new fence installed around the front of the playground as well
as parking bumpers.
o A shade structure was placed over the playground at McCormick Park.
o The Sand at the Volleyball Courts at Bob Eden Park was leveled and tilled.
o Trees were replanted at Glade Park.
o New pads were installed at the Aquatic Park.
o The shade covers were re-enforced at the Dog Park.
o New fountains were installed at Bob Eden Park.
o The Parks staff did irrigation repair at the Euless Family Life Center.

a. Athletics Report - Sandv Purcell

o Drainage work was done at West Park.
o The Driving Range was cleaned up and some areas cleared out.
o The Parks Department worked Arbor Daze and handed out a plethora of trees that
were grown throughout the year.
a Art in the Park will be on June 7th,2025 from 8am-10am at Wilshire Park.
Canines and Coffee will take place on June 14th, 2025 from 7:30am-9:30am at the
Bear Creek Dog Park.
Bridging Generations will take place at the Euless Family Life Center on July 12th,
2025 from 10am-11:30am.
Summer Scavenger Hunt will take place on July 79th,2025 from 8:00am-4:00pm at
Various Locations throughout the city.
The Euless Splash Down will be on July 26, 2025 from 9:30am-11:30am at the
Euless Family Life Center Aquatic Park.
Rubber Duck Regatta will be on August 2nd,2025 from Ll":00am-12:00pm at the
Euless Family Life Center Aquatic Park.
Nerf Wars will take place on August 8th, 2025 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Euless
Family Life Center.
Arbor Daze was a huge hit and many positive comments were made. We will be
having a follow up meeting with Glade Parks where they should give us numbers on
how many people attended.

The Aquatics and Rec Staff held the Easter Splash on April lZth,2025. 5,000 eggs
were dropped. There was a balloon artist and glittertattoos.
The Aquatic Staff is gearing up for the summer season. Summer hiring is in full
swing as well has Lifeguard Training Classes.
The Water Aerobics class had a Derby Days event. There was a hat contest and
horse race.

E. Directors Report - Dua
We have several consultants for different projects that we are currently working
with. South Euless Park, PATS Phase Vlll, Batting Cage Project and Kiddie Carr are
all projects we are looking to complete.
June 02, 2025 will be the date of the next Park Board Meeting.
