HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-03-19FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD March 19,2025 ITEM 1 - CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones at 11'.28 A.M. at the City of Euless Animal Shelter (temporary),201W. Euless Blvd., Euless, Texas 76040 The following members were in attendance: Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones Doctor Susan Read City Council Member Eddie Price Staff Members Present: City Manager Chris Barker Deputy City Manager Lawrence Bryant Assistant Director Public Works Joe Villa AS Foreman Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour ITEM 2 - REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 28,2024 Director Jones asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of October 28,2024. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written, ITEM 3 - UPDATE ON GAP AS Foreman Shelton reported that GAP held an adoption event at PetSmart on March 22nd and will be holding their annual "Walk-A-Thon" on April 26th, ITEM4-STAFFREPORT o Operations: AS Foreman Shelton reported that ASO Preciado completed his Advanced Animal Control certificate and the new Animal Services Officer is scheduled to begin work on April 3'd AS Foreman Shelton also reported that Shelter Cats participated in a "Spring Fling" at the Senior Center and that during "Read Across America" week, Shelter Attendant Carrie Mutchie read to students at Wilshire Elementary School. Page 1 of 2 . Facilities: AS Foreman Shelton reported that Animal Services has installed covers over the dog park area of the temporary shelter. He also reported that the State concluded their inspection and gave the approval for quarantines at the temporary shelter. ln cooperation with the City of Grapevine, Euless retains altered cats and those that are not spayed or neutered are taken by Grapevine Animal Services. AS Foreman Shelton shared that the construction on the new shelter was going very well and was currently on schedule. ITEM 5 - QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Director Jones asked if there were any questions or comments on the quarterly reports. Director Jones asked regarding the decrease in the number of patrols and the increase in wildlife calls. AS Foreman Shelton indicated that the patrols were affected due to the move to the temporary shelter and wildlife calls had increased due to calls regarding raccoons in attics. City Manager Barker inquired if there had been an effect on the number of volunteers since the move to the temporary shelter, AS Foreman indicated that there had been no effect. Debbie Latour informed the Board that she would be sending out tentative dates for the remaining 2025 meetings at a later date. There were no further questions or comments indicated.
