HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-10-2861 Regular Meeting Euless City Council October 28, 1958 The City Council met in regular session on October 28, 1958, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, W. 0. Murray, and Albert Tillery. Representatives of the Midway Park Developers appeared before the City Council to discuss the City Council's request that they provide a north -south boulevard through Midway Park Addition No. 2. After considerable discussion they proposed that they would make Aransas Drive sixty feet wide with 35 feet of paving. A motion was made by Councilman Murray and seconded by Councilman Tillery, that this be accepted and approved in lieu of the original request. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 2. A motion was made by Councilman T i l l e r y , and seconded by Councilman Murray, that a committee composed of Mayor Mi l l ican and Councilman Fuller be appointed and authorized to try to work out the best possible solution with the Developers to get Sunset Drive properly drained and also graveled, if possible. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. U The City Council discussed having an aerial map made by the Barnes Aerial Survey Company. They had previously offered to make a map five feet by eight feet for $215.00. No action was taken at this meeting. 4. 'A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded by Councilman Murray, to have the police patrol car repaired by the Euless Garage for $235.00, and drive it until a new 1959 model car could be obtained from Bob Cook, Inc., Ford Dealer at Arlington on their low bid of $1009.00. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 3. A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded by Councilman Murray, that the j a i I plans be accepted with the under- standing that Institutional Plumbing Fixtures be substituted for regular commercial fixtures, and that we would ask for three bids to build the j a i I . L. Bondurant be authorized to submit to the City of Fort Worth, through their Assistant City Attorney Mr. John Gano, a proposal of exactly what the City of Euless would want in exchange for deannexing the land the City of Fort Worth has asked for. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, that the City of Euless pay Mr. W. E. Smith the balance of $500.00 due him for preparing the 1958 tax rolls and statements. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. A motion was made by Councilman T i l l e r y , and seconded by Counci man Murray, that the City of Euless pay Mr. J. A. Maughan $25.00 f o r drawing up the j a i l plans, plus $2.59 for three sets of blue prints of these plans. A 1 Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 4 The City Secretary was instructed to write to Mr. Wray Brown of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company asking him to be sure that the Euless Police Department telephone number BU3 -1623 be included in their next directory. 10:00 p.m. The City Council meeting adjourned at Minutes Approved: /s/ Ernest Millican, Jr. Attest: Mayor /s/ W.
