HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-05-12 - HPCHistorical Preservation Committee Minutes May L2,2O25 CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:02am by Chairperson Suzy McCormick at the Heritage Museum, Euless. MEMBERS PRESENT Elaine Green, Patsy Hoover, Mary Hunt, Keith Jernigan, Suzy McCormick, Anniece McKanna, James Park, Jud Park, Gary Parker, Linda Pool, Norma Runyon, and Mavy Wright. STAFF PRESENT Parks and Community Services Director - Duane Strawn; Parks & Community Services Assistant Director - Elizabeth Johnson; Jodie Dunn - PACS Administrative Secretary VISITORS PRESENT None APPROVAT OF MINUTES A motion was made by Gary Parker to approve the minutes from April 14, 2025 and was seconded by Patsy Hoover. All approved and motion carried. TREASURERS REPORT The beginning balance effective today is $8,378.33. There was a donation of S38. The ending balance effective May 12 is 58,416.33. STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS 1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment- Linda Pool circulated the docent signup sheets for the upcoming open houses. She reminded the group there would be no meetings in July or August, but the museum would remain open as usual. 2. Acquisition-no report. 3. Facebook- Linda Pool mentioned she spoke with Bill Golden's daughter in Arizona to help with our Facebook group. Unfortunately, she was unable to assist with password/log-in. lt was discussed that we set up a new Facebook Group within the next six months, post a notice on current group that it was being transitioned to a new group, rename the group to something similar to "Euless Historical Preservation", and solicit help from the Parks & Recreation Department to help with downloading photos and important information. Those items could be uploaded to the new group. HPC MTG O5!22O?5 - Page 1 of 2 Linda reported she had recently attended an HEB ISD retired employee group meeting and shared information, video and written documentation about the Euless Museum. Linda distributed a document from the HEB Chamber of Commerce regarding H-E-B Grocery Stores 7 8 and the April 72,2025 State ofThe District report bythe school superintendent. She mentioned a young student offered to help the Historical group with presentations, using Canva rather than PowerPoint. Linda also distributed copies of an interesting article from March 2025 from D Magazine. 4. Gary Parker remarked that some ofthe public comments on Facebook are inaccurate. He recommended having semiannual meetings with citizens, Committee members, and City Staff to share memories and accurate information about this history of Euless. A video and/or oral recording of the event would be helpful. 5. Plaque - Mavy stated the plaque has been replaced on the museum wall 6. Display Signs - up to date. Publicity/Programs/Speakers- no report. Heritage Park-no report. CHAIRMAN,S REPORT- None STAFF REPORT - Mr. Strawn stated that foundation work will resume soon, most likely during the summer. The work will be fully funded. COMMITTEE REPORT / INPUT - None ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 11:00am.
