Some schools in Euless were placed on lockdown Wednesday after a shooting at a
nearby apartment complex where a woman was injured, and the suspect fatally shot
himself during a standoff, police said.
Euless police officers responded to reports of a shooting about 8 a.m. at an apartment
complex in the 1400 block of Raider Drive, police said in a news release.
When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that a woman had sustained
injuries and was taken to a hospital by an acquaintance, police said.
The suspect remained barricaded inside the apartment, police said.
Central Junior High, KEYS High School and the DAEP School in the HEB Independent
School District were placed on lockdown as a precaution, police said. The Northeast
Tarrant County Area SW AT Team responded to the shooting scene. The suspect
refused to surrender despite multiple attempts to communicate, police said.
At the end of the standoff, the 35-year-old man was found dead inside the apartment
from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The lockdowns at the affected schools have since been lifted, and there is no ongoing
threat to the community, police said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will idenity the man who died.
